While visiting Kyenjojo Uganda on a short-term mission trip in 2011, my heart was broken by the poverty and hardship I saw the people enduring there. But my heart was also filled with love for the beautiful people I met; the joyful worship I witnessed while in Kyenjojo continues to inspire. With each of my two subsequent visits to Kyenjojo, I was filled with hope by the progress that I could see was being made by the dedicated staff of God’s Care Ministries. On my last visit I was introduced to a mother and her 5 children, one of which was not even her own, who were struggling to survive in the worst living conditions I had ever seen. Once again, my heart was broken. As I left this family, I promised to try to help them. I had no idea how I would keep that promise, but God made a way with the assistance of God’s Care Ministries. I am grateful to the founders of Abantu Together for making a way for me to continue to be a sponsor for two of the boys in that family. I am also inspired by the dedication of Pastor Victor Sande, who persevered through the hardships brought on by a long covid shutdown, the loss of staff and other unexpected circumstances. Most of all, I praise our Mighty God who is still working in Kyenjojo, and for inviting us to join Him!
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
