Going to Uganda changed my life forever...
I have learned what genuine gratitude and praise look like, how those things can change our perspective to align with God's, how what we have is always enough to share, how God helps us see Him through His people, how believers are all in a process of getting to know Him better, how precious is clean water [physical and spiritual]. Being with people in Kyenjojo, both those suffering and those professionals who strive to alleviate the suffering of fellow Ugandans, impacts my memories daily. When I see potatoes on my dinner plate, I think of the little girl who, out of gratitude, gave me her lunch of a boiled potato wrapped in a banana leaf. When I see a smile as wide as can be imagined, I see a middle-aged man who received dental care and walked nine miles back to the medical center the next day to present us with carrots from his garden to express his thanks. When I stand in worship or sing praise music, I see the joy of God's people of God's Care Church because they know they belong to Jesus Christ despite their circumstances. I cannot forget these people of Kyenjojo, for they have taught me so much about how God cares for each of us, through all of us, by His amazing design. Join Abantu Together as we release the Gospel message, make an impact in this corner of the world, and experience transformation.
As I stood in God's Care Church, a Ugandan woman shared her well-marked Bible with me, and it was Psalm 89.
"I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself."
